Prairie State Cycling Series Announces Initial Five 2013 Race Venues Plus NCC Omnium

Posted on February 11, 2013May 3, 2017

The initial five dates of the 2013 Prairie State Cycling Series (PSCS) have been announced, including a four-day omnium on USA Cycling’s National Criterium Calendar (NCC):

Sammy's St. Charles Prairie State Criterium

  • Wednesday, July 17th
    Sharon Cycling Classic
(a road race in Sharon, WI)
  • Thursday, July 18th NCC Event
11th Annual Beverly Hills Cycling Classic
(a criterium in the Chicago community of Beverly)
  • Friday, July 19th NCC Event
    Elmhurst Cycling Classic
    (a criterium in Elmhurst, IL)
  • Saturday, July 20th NCC Event
Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium and Lake Bluff Block Party
    (Lake Bluff, IL)
  • Sunday, July 21st NCC Event
    Sammy’s/Dreyer St. Charles Criterium
    (St. Charles, IL)

“In 2012, we started with one great bike race in St. Charles and this summer we will have a true series of great bike races all around the Chicago metro area”, said Marco Colbert, PSCS Executive Director. “Our goal is to create a quality bike race series in July that will appeal to amateur and pro cyclists in this region and all around the country, that will provide family-friendly entertainment to race fans of all ages, and that will become valuable assets in our terrific partner communities.”

“The Prairie State Cycling Series has great potential for growth and sustainability”, said Tom Schuler, one of the PSCS principals, “because we are focusing on Chicagoland and a wonderful variety of communities that see the value of having a first class cycling event in their town. Having four of our venues on the NCC calendar is just icing on the cake.”

“We had a blast last year”, said Sammy Radi, owner of Sammy’s Bikes in St. Charles. “The brand new USPRO Crit champion raced in our event last year, our racecourse goes back and forth across the beautiful Fox River, we had a great crowd of spectators, we had roast goat on a spit…I can’t wait until this year’s race.”

“Stay tuned for the announcement of additional venues in our 2013 series”, Colbert said.

Sponsor, schedule and registration updates will be announced at the official PSCS website: www.prairiestatecyclingseries.com.
