23 Annual “Food, Folks & Spokes” to Kick Off Multi-Day Bike Race Series.
March 13, 2013 – The 23rd Annual “Food, Folks & Spokes” will kick off the Prairie State Cycling Series (PSCS) on Friday, July 12, 2013.
“Food, Folks & Spokes is the quintessential family-friendly cycling event,” said Marco Colbert, PSCS Executive Director. “The organizers at the Kenosha YMCA put their collective heart and soul into creating a day of activities that the entire community can embrace. We are proud to have Kenosha as the kick-off to Prairie State Cycling Series.”
“Food, Folks & Spokes” is Kenosha’s largest, one-day, alcohol-free family oriented sporting event. In addition to eight hours of continuous bicycle racing, the 10:00a.m. to 10:00p.m. day will include the popular Festival of Food, a Fun Fest for kids, and non-stop entertainment including a free concert at 7:00p.m.
“All of us at the Kenosha YMCA are thrilled to be working with the Prairie State Cycling Series to make Food, Folks & Spokes the perfect opening day of their multi-day event,” said Cindy Altergott, Kenosha YMCA Operations Administrator. “It will be a fun, healthy, alcohol-free day featuring cycling, entertainment, food, informational booths, kids games & rides, and our 1K “Y Walk” to help raise awareness for the fight against childhood obesity.”
“And let’s not forget about the Big Wheel race for the little ones taking place right before the Men’s Pro Race,” continued Altergott. “These cyclists are excellent motivation for the kids to get off the couch and outside to exercise.”
The fast, four-corner crit will encircle Library Park, where the day’s complementary non-race activities will take place.
Continual updates will be announced on the official PSCS website: www.prairiestatecyclingseries.com.
