The Intelligentsia Cup powered by SRAM is happy to announce our 2018 series venues, offering ten days of continous racing with seven criteriums and three road races, including the Illinois state road race championship!
New to our line-up this year is an exciting road race venue in the Autobahn Country Club, a 3.56 mile auto race course that will provide us with a 100% full road closure, along with many other amenities (ahem, showers!).The Autobahn venue will take place on Monday, July 23.
Another change to our series for 2018 is that all of our road races will be run on distance instead of time.
As already announced, Elgin will be the site of the Illinois state road race championship, with the Dennis Jurs Memorial Road Race presented by Advocate Sherman Hospital on Sunday, July 22.
With our shift by a week a couple of returning venues are changing position on our schedule, with the Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium now our second stop of the series on Saturday, July 21, and the Jerry Haggerty Chevrolet Tour of Lake Ellyn on Saturday, July 28.
The Superior Ambulance Elmhurst Cycling Classic will again finish under the lights on Friday, July 27 and the Holiday Inn Express Niles Cycling Classic stays on the Thursday of our schedule, July 26, but with a course change. The West Dundee River Challenge returns with the daunting ‘leg breaker’ finish hill on Wednesday, July 25. The South Chicago Kermesse presented by Ald. Susan Sadlowski-Garza is also back and will be run on distance.
Of course, everything will once again kick-off with the 16th Annual Beverly Hills Cycling Classic on Chicago’s southwest side on Friday, July 20, and our series will again conclude near downtown on Fulton Street on Sunday, July 29 with the newly renamed William Blair Grand Prix at Goose Island Beer Co.
Registration will be opening by mid-April, with our traditional 20% discount for early birds!
